I thank you, my friend, for your statement. Those who know me - TopicsExpress

I thank you, my friend, for your statement. Those who know me from 2007 NPP congress can bear witness that I have never doubted Nana Addo winning any congress in NPP. I have always said Nana will win any NPP race without sweat. I have always been very unsure of his ability to win power for NPP. I have supported his Presidential campaign anytime he is nominated. Nana himself knows what I did in the 2012 campaign. My wish is NPP winning Presidential Elections and not lose. So if we lose I try to find out why and work out possible strategies to over come the difficulty. I was part of Kufuors campaign since 1992. I had been part of the strategic thinking, quietly in the background, no matter how small that was. I saw how he evolved from a losing aspirant to eventually winning to become President. I may not be always right but what I know is when Kufuor lost a couple of times new strategies were called in. We were not looking at Kufuor as the only person to win election but we saw certain attributes in him that we felt made him stand a BETTER chance than the others. Prof. Adu Boahene was there, so were Dr. Dzane-Selby and Dr. Sarfo Adu. Ours was who can win, not who was popular. That was the motivation that drove me to Kufuors campaign. Eventually, it paid off. I tell you if Kufuor was subjected to a similar test of super delegates congress as was done yesterday he would not have been considered at all. Those who know will tell you that at congress that Kufuor won to beat Prof Adu Boahene, General Secretary, late Agyenim Boateng even refused to introduce him at that congress. Yet at the end of the congress Kufuor came out victorious over the most popular man, not only in NPP but in Ghana, Prof Adu Boahene. I am not campaigning against Nana. I am also accessing the capacities and capabilities of our candidates whom we should present for election 2016. I may have my reasons to think that it should not be Nana. It does not take away the fact that he is no doubt the most popular person in NPP today. It does not also take away the fact that we have sent him to contest twice but have failed all when all pundits and international predictions pointed him as the most favourite to beat his NDC competitors. If I were any strategist I would find out why and apply adequate solutions including change of candidate if that is what would be a better way to win. My call for change is not because I am in Kufuors camp or I hate Nana. My concern is borne out of the fact that with Nana as leader we have not won, twice. If his popularity cannot win me elections I should be concerned and seek solutions. Whether I love him or not should not be the prime motivation or concideration. This is rational thinking.
