I think I have just found the worlds worst cast iron cookbook. I was browsing Amazon for cast iron cookbooks, and came upon this little gem. I saw that it only has a two-star rating, so I clicked and looked at the reviews to see what was wrong with it. One of the reviews claimed that the instructions for the pizza say that it could be cooked either in a wood fired oven, or in the microwave. I was all WTH??? Who puts cast iron in a microwave? Its a Kindle book, and since I have Amazon Prime and a Kindle, I was able to borrow it for free via the Kindle Owners Lending Library; I wanted to see this for myself, but I didnt want to pay $2.99 for the privilege. So I downloaded it to my Kindle, and sure enough, it says, and I quote: You can either use a traditional wood fired oven or the general microwave oven for making the pizza. Im guessing that the author meant to say something like kitchen oven, but it does say microwave. Extremely bad writing and editing. I just hope a newbie doesnt get ahold of this book and put cast iron in a microwave, because they dont have a wood-burning oven. (I wish I DID have one, maybe someday!) In general, the whole book is very badly written, it doesnt even give exact measurements. A recipe for an upside-down pineapple cake calls for ingredients such as a bowl of flour, a couple of spoons of baking powder, a spoon of lemon extract, etc. Maybe this lady doesnt measure when she cooks, but how is a reader supposed to know how much to use? And for baking, you do need exact amounts. I saw that this book came out a week ago, looks like something the author threw together and slapped up there on Amazon. Glad I didnt pay money for this!
