I think I know why the Chinese families are reacting the way they are towards the Malaysian govt and MAS. Nope I am not excusing them. I am simply explaining the possible reason for such reactions: 1) Chinese (in China) are by and large devoid of culture since they were emptied inside out during the Cultural Revolution 2) In general, they are an aggressive bunch... not to be mistaken with vicious or insidious. When I was in Shanghai, I experienced culture shock seeing how rude they could be... But then I realized, they were just brash.. really brash 3) The Chinese govt is a very oppressive one. Dont forget. Theyre still communists. Dissent is not tolerated there. Not one bit. So, tiny little iddy biddy Malaysia has become the ONLY door they can knock on, for answers. We have also become the convenient punching bag... 4) There is breakdown in cross cultural communication between the airline and the Chinese 5) Chinese govt is instigating this to put us in bad light and put the pressure on the current govt to teach them a lesson... Errr. wonder if Robert Kwok has whispered something to the top guns in China... Hmmm...
