I think I may have found a good frame for my pseudo touring bike. - TopicsExpress

I think I may have found a good frame for my pseudo touring bike. (Touring for me is a 25-30 mile ride to the woods to go camping) It is a earlier Scott Team mountain bike. Its an old 15 speed, but I plan on adding a few more gears. Who knows? For years, people road thousands of miles with 10 or less. Nonetheless, this thing has been stored inside for years. Aside from dust, it looks like its a year old. I wanted a steel or chromo frame for the foundation. A complete bike for $35 seems like a good starting price. I have a different wheelset, but Im not sure it will fit. It has an 8 sp cassette. I know Ill need a different chain and derailleur. Ill probably go with friction shifters on the bar ends. Not sure if I really want a drop bar, though. Beer gut may get in the way. Any recommendations or advice from the more experienced? Im building this on a lean budget. Very lean. I have baby #5 on the way. Lean budget.
