I think I may have found a purpose.... No taxation without - TopicsExpress

I think I may have found a purpose.... No taxation without representation. Dont tax me unless I have a voice... I believe that in order to vote, I should provide photo evidence that I am a citizen of the country, state, city, district, or whatever that I am voting for. I also believe that it should not cost me a penny out of pocket in order to do so and that the process of doing so should be easy for me to do. So heres the fight Im currently thinking about taking up... The United States of America was founded on the idea of No taxation without representation. Basically, if you want to tax me then go ahead, but I should have a right in saying how to tax me and how my taxes should be spent. If youre going to tax me, then I should have a RIGHT to vote. Not a privilege. And that is the one single right, more than any other, that should be given to me and not cost me a penny out of pocket. I do believe that I should have to prove I am who I say I am in order to vote. If I enter the poll both, then I need to prove I am a current citizen and there should be a record that I havent already voted. That is what should be given to me as soon as I am deemed a citizen. After that, it is up to the government to prove I am not a citizen. The Burden of Proof should be on them. And the only proof I should need at that point is to present identification. That should be provided to me without cost and with reasonable ease to me. Of course the cost of providing identification to our citizens is going to have to come from somewhere. And if we dont charge them when they get it, then were going to have to increase taxes for it. But that doesnt mean it is not the right thing to do. At the same time, it isnt right for the government to imprint or implant any kind of tattoo or microchip in or on anybodys body, so dont even think about going that route. My point here has nothing to do with voting. My point is that as a U.S. citizen I shouldnt have to pay anything, or do anything unreasonable in order to be able to prove that I am a citizen. Providing a photo I.D. is not unreasonable so long as the process of obtaining it is reasonable. Lets make THAT happen. So thats my drunken thought for the night. I do hope I follow through with this one though. Hopefully by annoying the crap out of any and every political official that stands in my way....
