I think Ive mentioned all of the insurance questions I get asked. I have been asked by many, Do you offer a sliding scale? The answer is Im certainly open to negotiating my fees because I understand not everyone can afford counseling. I do value my services at $95 per session and Im open to negotiating as long as we honor each others needs. Most clients are more than willing to negotiate. Some have told me they prefer negotiating the fee and want to respect my needs as well as their own. My goal in negotiating is to empower my client in the process, to teach assertive skills, to promote communication, and to role model how to negotiate a relationship. A sliding scale doesnt offer that exchange, in my opinion.
