I think Paul Krugman has correctly identified the problem, but - TopicsExpress

I think Paul Krugman has correctly identified the problem, but goes far too easy on the Reactionary Republican Reprobates in this article as to the cause. “On issues that range from monetary policy to the control of infectious disease, a big chunk of America’s body politic holds views that are completely at odds with, and completely unmovable by, actual experience. And no matter the issue, it’s the same chunk. If you’ve gotten involved in any of these debates, you know that these people aren’t happy warriors; they’re red-faced angry, with special rage directed at know-it-alls who snootily point out that the facts don’t support their position. The question, as I said at the beginning, is why. Why the dogmatism? Why the rage? And why do these issues go together, with the set of people insisting that climate change is a hoax pretty much the same as the set of people insisting that any attempt at providing universal health insurance must lead to disaster and tyranny?” Here we have a clear instance that goes against a principle called Hanlons Razor; Never attribute to malice that which can be adequately explained by stupidity. In this case the underlying malice is undeniable. Rejection of the facts is not a matter of stupidity with conservatives (Im including the Conservative Party of Canada, the Tories in the UK and all others of their ilk along with Republicans - they ALL do it.) Its the fact that the liberal-biased facts expose their duplicity. They dont WANT their policies to help the mythical little people in any way shape or form. In fact theyre designed to rip you off and help press the jackboot of Big Government on your neck until you choke to death. The facts reveal their evil intent.
