I think UKIP are going to do very well in todays election. Mainly because I am surrounded by people who can be categorised into two groups: those who are angry at the system and are voting UKIP as some sort of protest vote against the EU and the government and those who have lost faith in politics and are therefore not voting or voting Green. The latter group here are generally against UKIP and would brand them racists but by not voting they are merely granting UKIP a larger majority. I dont understand the logic of not voting being a protest vote, the system of politics isnt perfect but the EU elections are done on proportional representation meaning your vote does hold influence. So i dont understand the views of someone such as Russell Brand who has some much to say about politics but decides not to vote… if he is so passionate but doesnt like any of the parties then he should form his own party or pressure group. So many people got involved in mocking UKIP on twitter yesterday but very few of them will actually vote today…
