I think a comparison of these two pictures does says a lot about the nature of the Cuban government. It is my hope that the new policy towards Cuba somehow helps further empower the civilian population to free themselves from a regime that is without any doubts despotic, totalitarian and void of democratic values. Lets not mistake a normalization of relations with an abandonment of our fight to pursue a freer, more democratic and just Cuba. This new policy, should instead be viewed as a different tool with which this fight of ours is resumed and born anew. We owe it to the thousands of Cubans who have lost their lives as refugees, in Cuban jails or at the hands of government officials and mobs in the island. I personally owe it to my family who still lives under this repressive regime and suffers daily from their abuse of power.
