I think for me, what cuts deepest with Robin Williams suicide is - TopicsExpress

I think for me, what cuts deepest with Robin Williams suicide is certainly the loss of such a unique and influential on fire comic personality –spontaneously created humor is always the best, and most honest, and riskiest, and he was a utter master. And I admire that greatly. Sometimes we take ourselves absurdly too seriously, and Williams was a great and powerful antidote to that. But whats hardest to reconcile is with the uplifting roles that he consistently played... clown using laughter as therapeutic medicine, an inspirational force, usually involving a character that emerges or helps others emerge from the darkness into the light, or reminding/remembering the measure of ones worth. Its never acceptable to abandon hope, and we should always place our hope with the correct steward, but... it becomes incredibly hard to maintain when you see such a positive force and presence who represented hope to so many be immune to his own therapy/work, and succumb to his demons. We ALL struggle with difficulties –some more, some less-- and you cant help but think after seeing such a bright light go prematurely dark --there but for the grace of god go I.
