I think it is unnecessarily cruel to take farm animals on very long journeys in extremely cramped conditions to be slaughtered. Especially when many of those journeys involve sea crossings and transportation to other countries for slaughter in any way they see fit. If we must eat them, the least we can do is ensure they are slaughtered close to home and treated humanely with compassion up to and including the point of death.
