I think its important to remember that this gent was one of the people that said we should drug test welfare recipients - which I support so long as they are provided treatment as a condition to keeping their benefits. If they refuse the treatment and/or continue to use after popping a positive on the test, THEN they lose the benefits. The idea is to get people working and OFF welfare eventually and, if they have a chemical abuse problem, thats not an easy thing to do. That said, I also think that we, as the employers of members of Congress, should have the right to drug test any elected official regularly and publish the results of any drug found that cannot be tied to a prescription. The reason being is that these people make decisions that affect thousands of lives. As such, we should have the right to know they are in control of their faculties when they are on the job. Besides, private employers have the legal right to drug test their employees, so why shouldnt the American People have the legal right to drug test theirs?
