I think its kinda neat when a motorcade is passing to see everyone pulled over on the highway waiting until the string of cars go through. Being the one trailing behind at 10 miles an hour for miles....my initial and immediate response is to think of how I am inconvenienced by having to wait. But when in that pause...and seeing all the cars pulled over...I stopped to think about the grave inconvenience of a life interrupted... I am overwhelmed with emotion. Maybe it is because Ive experienced it myself. How in one fell swoop your world can get turned upside down. Or because I realize there are just some things are not so important that we cannot stop just ONE moment just out of respect. I pull over and say a prayer for this family and those affected by this loss. This world is so fast paced. Self consumed people railroading over those who arent going their way with little regard for those around us and what they might be experiencing in THEIR world. If we all would just slow down and keep our eyes open to the world around us we might just realize we are missing more urgent opportunities and that things we consider pressing dont have as much importance as we put on them. You may think it was just a motorcade and those are just my thoughts. But it is in moments such as these I realize even more how we complain about PEOPLE. We pick on PEOPLE. Treat them as inconvenient and in the way. We pick them apart with judgement and criticism till theres nothing left. ..........we become casual, apathetic, indifferent and prejudice.........presuming we know their story. Every one has had a story. The person lying in that casket had a story. And there are people who either left a positive influence or a negative one. How are you influencing the stories of those around you? We only have one life to live and can make all the difference in someone elses life by the way we spend OURS.
