I think it’s time that I talk a little more about my special - TopicsExpress

I think it’s time that I talk a little more about my special prayer request. I want to share this for several reasons. One, because I want people to be able to pray for his specific needs, and second, because I am so excited to brag about the miracle that is already happening. There has been some concern, for a while now, that Bill may have a brain injury, because he wasn’t waking up. I kept telling the nurses and doctors that it wasn’t possible, because he talked during the fire and during transport from the hospital. He also was alert the first few days in the hospital, so I thought maybe he was over medicated. Well the verdict is out, and he did suffer hypoxia in his brain. It is in a spot that plays a central role in everything, plus plays a big role in memory. Since I received this news, I have been totally discouraged. I haven’t been able to get a good long-term diagnosis from anyone, other than the worse case scenario would be that he is as good as he will get. Basically he can’t do anything but sleep, stick out his tongue and somewhat raise his arm. (Can you imagine getting that news?) I’ve been crying off and on the past 3 days, but not giving up hope that God will work a miracle in this situation. Either way, I love him unconditionally and if God chooses this path for us, I will accept it. However, I don’t feel this is Bill’s destiny. I believe that Bill’s recovery is going to be miraculous! God is going to do something spectacular!! He didn’t say “It is well” to me, without meaning it. Today, after reviewing the CT Scan and MRI with neurology, I was super angry! I wanted to rip a head off and roll it down the hallway. Instead, I went and ate, which is the next best thing. (The extra large chocolate chip cookie didn’t hurt either) After lunch, I went back to Bill’s room, and his Physical Therapist came in to do therapy. It was like God came into the room, breathed life into Bill’s body, and he woke up. He followed all of her commands, which were very specific. He knows his right and his left!! She asked him to do leg lifts on his right leg, he did leg lifts on his right leg. Same with the left leg! He used his arms to give her knuckles, attempted a high five, winked when she asked him to wink, sat up and leaned forward when I asked him for a kiss, and the coolest thing……she asked him to follow her finger with his eyes, and he followed the whole time. Even the PT and OT had chills. My mother in law was crying, and I was hip hip horraying!! He is with us, he knows who we are, he can remember how to do things, and he is ready to work as hard as he has to to get better. Can I get a praise God?!?! This was not expected!?!? We were elated, as was the therapists and his nurse. I can sleep good tonight knowing that Bill knows what’s going on. I said earlier, if he can only remember what a hard worker he was, he will be fine. I guess he remembers. Psalm 41:2-3 The LORD will protect him and preserve his life; he will bless him in the land and not surrender him to the desire of his foes. The LORD will sustain him on his sickbed and restore him from his bed of illness.
