I think most Snooker, Pool and 9 Ball players recognize the man in the picture as David Nathan Anderson AKA DNA but many of you might not know his remarkable story. I first met David in 1995 in the SA Championship in Durban. I was impressed by his play. The boy had skills. The following year he was selected to represent RSA in the IBSF World Under 21 Champs. David reached the Quarter Finals losing to Steven Maguire. Now this is where the remarkable story starts. Later on in 1996 David was involved in a horrific car accident and told that he would never walk again. I was one of the few people that frequently visited him in hospital. David never accepted this ... and Im not sure how but I can promise you with a ton of blood, sweat and tears David started getting movement in his legs and eventually started walking. Against the advice of doctors David started playing cue sports and below is some of the things a man that was told he will never walk again did ... He been RSA Pool Champion twice, SA 9 Ball Champion 3 times & SA American 8 Ball champs once. David has Won All Africa 8 ball Champs, All Africa 9 ball Champs. David won the United Balls n All Extravaganza ... The first prize was a brand new car. (not too shabby) ... He then went on to win the big 101 Challenge. (Prize of R101 000) David could have made history by being the first player to win all national tournaments in the 3 different disciplines but the SA Snooker Champs has eluded him, twice he has failed at the final hurdle once losing to Ricky Tregonning in the final and on another occasion losing to Francois Ellis in the final.
