I think our worst creation is the mirror It holds so much control over us and yet It shows us so very little We look into them and see nothing but doubt The worries that live within us painted Onto this blank, empty canvas Building complexes, telling us we arent Good enough, telling us everything we fear is true And nothing out hearts yearn for But we must realize that were looking into a world so shallow Nothing could survive here It shows the bare minimum, and we project our demons onto the rest We primp and pamper until the monster is satisfied, never seeing the truth This veil never shows us our compassion The trials weve overcome, the lengths weve gone to just to keep breathing It doesnt show our minds, the sheer brilliance of thought we all have inside It doesnt show our loves, intricacies, victories, friends, families, cherished memories It never tells us of our strength, our inspiration, those we inspire It takes us to a basic form and reduces us to a face Remember that face is loved by many for so much more than how it looks Those seeds of doubt laid by your mind are just quirks that we love you for Remember the love, remember who you are And turn around to greet the world
