I think some people have a very narrow understanding of why they are suddenly seeing so much of what seems to be one sided behavior by bad police. Many of the officers involved in these cases would not be considered bad police persons. There are three things at play: white supremacist mentality (which is the source of the idea that anyone non-white should be looked upon or acted against with scrutiny), policing policy, which is the enabler of these kinds of behaviors and mindsets both of police and the wider public, and the lack of understanding how widespread and endemic the behavior has been for a very long time. You cant speak to 5 American citizens, regardless of color or culture, who have not been witness to viewing an apprehended suspect handcuffed in the back of a police car, getting beaten with a nightstick, or other illegal police activity. It doesnt HAVE to be every cop-there have been SO many that it has created this current public backlash (and we all know this is not the first time). So ask yourself, why ARE there so many threads being posted, all over FB, Gothamist, Rawstory, Buzzfeed, Vice, and others? Not everyone is a liberal, or Democrat. All of them are not African American, or African Emigrant. Few of them (if any) are anti-police. Do you truly believe people are just making this up because they hate police officers, and just want to run around yelling and screaming in the streets and stealing the latest fashions from Macys? Thats your idea of a fun day? Wake Up. Seriously.
