I think some people need to sit back and think about the bigger - TopicsExpress

I think some people need to sit back and think about the bigger picture in the light of the Anderton services thread. CaRT are responsible for the entire network. They have a finite budget, and a paint the forth bridge task to handle within that budget. At the top you have R. Parry and the others who are responsible for determining overall policy and strategy for the whole shebang. This strategy and policy is then delegated to the various regional offices (Leeds, Bulls Bridge etc.) In these offices you have regional people who have to interpret these policies and strategies in the light of their own regional circumstances, and, importantly, being humans, they will have their own axe to grind, their own pet projects and pet hates, which will colour their interpretation and implementation of this strategy. In turn they will delegate responsibility for implementation to sub offices and depots, e.g. Anderton, Norbury etc.. and again you get local circumstances and personalities influencing the implementation. This leads to a large disparity across the network - a bit like the NHS in that regard. Anderton,Services, for example, Think of the local office responsible, they have a services block which is actually uses heavily by t adjacent commercial marinas who do not provide sufficient facilities for the moorers paying them, so you *might* just get a bit of a reluctance in the local CaRT people to spend money and effort for the benefit of the marinas. In many hundreds of lock-miles in the past year we have seen large differences in environment, community, and local affairs. Perhaps some of the shouty people should get out more and see this variance for themselves before mounting their own pet hobby horse about individual local issues? At the same time we get threads on various social media where people jump in with both feet shouting about their own personal pet grievances, which to them are of paramount importance - in reality they are minor issues in the big scheme of things, and people should not let these individual/group prejudices colour the conversations
