I think something we have to think about - Lesley posted a bit back a plan of attack from the Bowers/group. It is alarming what they have accomplished. First and foremost, their plan to decimate upper Town Staff. They have made that happen - we have lost all of our qualified, dedicated people that read the writing on the wall and moved on to greener pastures. Others they fired, and unfortunately the last standing soldier - decided enough is enough and retired. They did exactly what they set out to do, and we let it happen - because we had a unique Council that voted 4-3 to destroy our Town, and rob it of the very qualified people we had working for us. Perhaps this was unique situation of select people in CB buying the Councillors for their personal agenda that only applied to CB. This cannot happen again! The reality is the Town Staff and their departments are what makes it happen for us. They are the ones that try to fix our gripes. The BIG lesson from the last four years is although the Councillors are elected with various qualifications(?) they truly have to work with the recommendations of the Town Staff on what is possible within their budgets and manpower. There can be no undermining. The Councillors come with their limited backgrounds, they have to learn to listen to and respect the advice of the trained professionals on Town Staff. I am sorry, an electricians assistant really cannot question the Town professionals. We are also at a position, we have an acting Lawyer, CAO, now we have lost our Town Clerk - I guess that means Rick Brady is the one we circle the wagons around. I truly hope we can draw even from the ranks people that will carry us forward - I doubt we can draw outside professionals - I am sure our reputation has carried through their data info. Sorry this is a definite rant - but I needed it - and hopefully some resonates with others to carry forward.
