I think that Detroit Lions fans and fans of the NFL should begin a petition to remove NFL Referee Pete Morelli. Strike One: 2007 Phil Dawson Field Goal Browns VS Ravens 51 yard attempt hit goal post, went through, bounced off stanchion and bounces back out. Field Goal was ruled No-Good (FG are non-reviewable). Pete Morelli goes to the review booth and comes back and Field Goal was ruled good. Strike Two: 2009 NFC Championship Game Vikings VS Saints A hit below the knee against Brett Favre was not called. The hit was in violation of the Tom Brady Rule and shouldve been flagged which wouldve negated an interception. Robert Meachems catch hit the ground and was ruled a catch. Ben Leber was penalized for Pass Interference while ball was uncatchable and nowhere near any Saints player. Strike Three: 2014 NFC Wild Card Game Lions VS Cowboys With Detroit leading 20-17 with 8:25 remaining in the fourth quarter, the Lions faced a third down and 1 at the Dallas 46 yard-line. On the play, Cowboys linebacker Anthony Hitchens was initially called for pass interference trying to defend Lions tight end Brandon Pettigrew, which would have given Detroit an automatic first down. Morelli announced the penalty, but moments later announced that the call was changed to no foul without any further explanation.
