I think that it was last week that Leighlyn Blau was told that she had been nominated for the National Honor Society. (I was just a little bit thrilled ) After a student is nominated, the schools administration and faculty decided whether or not that student should be selected. Leighlyn got the word today that she has now been accepted!!!! Yay!!! After I got todays news, I did research on this society. Wow!!! I learned that there is ALOT that is taken into consideration. I thought that it was based only be a persons grade point average. WRONG! There are 4 requirements that that student MUST fulfill. Scholarship, Leadership, Service and Character. 1. GPA of at least 3.750 must be earned during the freshman and sophomore years. 2. Is a leader at work, school and in community activities There are many other requirements. If youre interested, please go to nationalhonorsociety.org to learn more. The high schools annual class awards will be today at 2:15 in the WCJ/SHS Auditorium. Everyone is invited to attend this. The names of the new inductees will be announced at that time. They will be inducted in September. Just when I dont think that my three children can make me any prouder than I already am, something such as this happens.
