I think that through a Student’s Environmental Bill of Rights we could talk about things like reconciliation with First Nations,” said Shecter. “We can talk about consumerism. We can talk about our resource extraction economy. We can have a lot of conversations that are difficult to have with [young] people in the public education system.” In addition, Shecter wants to be part of COPE’s legacy of standing up for public education by making sure that the public school system gets adequate funding from the provincial government.
