I think the Historian General has the right idea.......do not justify stupid remarks with a response. I let everyone that I can tell is not a spammer into the group. I have no idea in advance of their intelligence. College degrees indicate learning, but as the erroneous Harvard professor who authored the Colonial America course proves, even being a PhD from Harvard does not preclude mistakes. We all come to this group with a back story and personal prejudices based on our family backgrounds. I am not immune. A descendant of Alden(two lines), Bradford (two lines), Brewster, Mullins (two lines), Warren and Standish, I have my own opinions on Pilgrims matters. With the middle name Bradford and seven generations of Bradfords in America of course I revere the man. In addition to family lore, I have personally researched the Pilgrims both in books and in picking the brains of the worlds leading authorities on the Pilgrims at lunch when I sat next to them at Mayflower meetings. My views are indeed opinions, but they are opinions based on research and knowledge obtained from knowledgeable people it has been my good fortune to get to know.
