I think the Senate should censure the President. It might keep the Senate in the hands of the Democratic Party. (The venerable Democrats are in red States). The vulnerable is already a lame duck... There isnt much to lose in terms of getting any legislative action accomplished. And, the president is term limited out. He wont be on the ballot next time. But, the party would retain the Senate and defy all predictions of a turnover. It will show Independents and disillusioned Democrats that the party respects the law and that its trying to be a better party. And, it could possibly strengthen the partys chances for a 2016 presidential win. A small defeat for a big win might be worth it. It would weaken the Republican hand and censure is more pleasant to deal with than impeachment. It would look good and say something for the democrats to take the initiative and take action. As of the 16th, the President has a 68% job disapproval rating with Independents. The vulnerable Senate seats are in red States whose Republican base is fired up ... At this point, party unity isnt going to do us one lick of good here in Texas. National Hose and Senate members are turning in the president for just a shot at even being able to hold on to their seats.
