I think the church has become really complacent with telling an incomplete story. The story of the Bible is not only about submissive women, it is also about women who were wise, courageous, strong, powerful, decisive and initiative. Today we hear about how women should be submissive, but we hardly hear about the other attributes that characterize a woman of the Bible. Meanwhile we live in the world where women are subjected to abusive actions everyday, even by those who claim to love them. Yet these women do not have the courage to walk away even when they see that their lives are in danger. They do not decisively take action to protect themselves, often in the name of submission. We can no longer turn a blind eye to the fact that not all men are protectors and leaders, even those who claim to be lovers and Christians. Let us tell the whole story, because incomplete stories are not only misinforming, but are also dis-empowering.
