I think the decision of the National Union of Students to withdraw - TopicsExpress

I think the decision of the National Union of Students to withdraw support from the upcoming free education march (in fact a decision was democratically taken to support it, then the top leadership bounced people into withdrawing) shows how a lot of what passes for left-wing in the official student movement just isnt. People present themselves as left-wing by being in with certain cliques and, frankly, by being in favour of identity politics (by which I dont mean liberation politics). But when it comes to it are lot of them are liberals at best. I dont mean the quasi-Blairite wing, I mean people who are sometimes seen as radical left.
