I think the medical field & health care system is VERY DISRESPECTFUL towards Sickle Cell Anemia, the disease & the patients. every other life threatening illness has a day, awareness month, walks, marches, donations, symbol, etc. we have a month but they dont acknowledge it enough. they act like it really doesnt exist. I guess because mostly blacks are affected with it they dont care. smh, let them discover a white person is diagnosed with it, theyre gonna go all out. Im gonna start looking into it more & starting petitions to get our illness recognized, bc we go through ALOT! we deserve more acknowledgement!! it may not go anywhere, but Im gonna try my best bc I dont like how they treat it like its nothing.
