I think the reason I liked President Ronald Reagan so much, was that it was a part of his understanding of America that this is a country that has always been fundamentally open to those that wanted to join us. He also knew that it wasnt right for people to be abused and acknowledged that anyone that was here illegally could be abused either financially (pay them less) or physically (work them long, hard hours). As a Californian, he wasnt oblivious to thousands of decent, hard-working recently arrived immigrants. He believed in amnesty for anyone who had put down roots and lived here, even though they may have lived here illegally. This seems to be a fact that is now lost with todays conservatives like Glenn Beck, Rush Limbaugh and even Sean Hannity. Hannity has a show called, What Would Reagan Do? Reagan ended up pardoning 2.9 million illegal/undocumented people. Hannity, you have your answer. Fast forward 30 years, and present day conservatives believe that amnesty shouldnt even be an option and the borders should be tightened. Reagan differed and wanted to see no wall and tougher penalties for employers that hired illegals (although the reform act did allow for hiring seasonal illigals). The immigration policies of the country should be fixed, toughened and enforced, but Mr. President... take down that wall. youtu.be/YtYdjbpBk6A
