I think the unknown Apostle that Christ loved mentioned in John 20 - TopicsExpress

I think the unknown Apostle that Christ loved mentioned in John 20 & 21 was Judas! It really gives very little other evidence of who he was but because Christ has it repeated, I wonder if Christ had to have Judas betray him to complete all things that had to be! Just as Peter denied Christ three times before the rooster crowed, Christ did not reject him but loved him! When Christ is sitting with the Apostles at the Last Supper and tells him one will betray him, it says in John 13:26-27 Jesus answered, It is he to whom I will give this morsel of bread when I have dipped it. So when he had dipped the morsel, he gave it to Judas, the son of Simon Iscariot. Then, after he had taken the morsel, Satan entered into him. Jesus said to him, What you are going to do, do quickly! The ending sentence made by Jesus to me almost sounds like it may have been something Christ knew had to be done and because Judas was the most trusted Apostle, he chose Judas to do this for him! So, in this light, we can see the kiss may not have been for betrayal but a deep saddening made by Judas himself, personal to say his good bye to Christ, knowing all that would have to happen! The very fact that Satan even had to enter his Spirit, shows that given the chance alone, Judas himself would not have done such an act anymore than Peter wanted to reject his Lord and Savior! What if we have this person in the Bible all wrong? They found Coptic writing titled the Book of Judas! According to some scholars who have knowledge on the subject, it is very hard to forge such a Old document! We must ask ourself, if truth changes or better yet, a new truth comes to light that challenges what we have believed, if shown the evidence of such truth, can we accept or does Faith mean only believing Principles we have already recieved? I, myself, feel enlightened and uplifted when learning new truths that I can use to uncover old truths that I may have overlooked so I can keep learning fresh and grow in who I am in the ways of truth!
