I think there is a life lesson in something Harry Connick, Jr. - TopicsExpress

I think there is a life lesson in something Harry Connick, Jr. said to a contestant on American Idol last night. “Practice what is hard.” He went further to say that by practicing what is hard, the reward will be much greater. We should all practice what is hard for us. Get out of our comfort zone and the reward will be great. 1. If you are not a good listener, practice listening. 2. If you are not good at a sport or hobby, practice. 3. If you are not comfortable showing compassion or concern, take a chance, practice. 4. If you are not good at speaking out for what is right, practice. The “Tipping Point”, by Malcolm Gladwell, includes a story about the Beatles, and how their success truly hinged on the opportunity to play every night in Hamburg, Germany, thereby giving them the opportunity to constantly practice and perfect their art. Perfect your art as a human being; practice being HUMANE. Humane is defined in The Merriam-Webster Dictionary as “marked by compassion, sympathy, or consideration for others.” Be the very best you can.
