I think theres enough injustice, oppression and harassment in the world for writers to make it their favourite plot tools. Theres too much harshness in reality for fiction to be enveloped in it. We turn to books and art for soothing our souls, not traumatising it. I think it is today that I promise myself to write stories that please my sense of adventure while keeping in mind that my words must not cause distress or trouble for some one else. I know most of us love the psychologically twisted stories for the challenge they present, but when youve read as much as I have (which is still not enough for me) after a point you realise that if every book contains the gory stuff youll eventually find yourself on a downward slope of stress and depression. What we see, read and listen to affects our very nature. And I am by no means confessing that I read bad literature. I love the books I read and theyve made me feel and think and deepen my intellect. Im thankful for my passion because it has made me a better person.
