I think this article pretty much says it all. ISIS leader Abu Bakr - TopicsExpress

I think this article pretty much says it all. ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi has been declared caliph and leader for Muslims everywhere. Notice that al-Baghdadi is considered the leader of Muslims around the world, not a leader of a nationality. The ISIS rebels also exhorted all Muslims to pledge allegiance to the new caliph and, funnier still, to reject democracy and other garbage from the West. So we wont see any free elections being held in the ISIS caliphate or Islamic state anytime soon. In short, this sectarian war in Iraq has everything to do with a certain interpretation of Islam which is highly popular with many people. Denying that is like denying reality and letting this sectarian violence drag on. ISIS claims to speak for Islam and lets take them at their word to the extent of acknowledging that they speaking for a popular interpretation of Islam (which is as accurate as any other interpretation of Islam good or bad) and then lets go a step further by saying that there are big parts of that interpretation which we disagree with. When more Muslims are willing to apply critical reasoning to their religion and admit that not all of it is perfect (though parts of it are alright), that will be a huge gain for all of humanity -- for Muslims and non-Muslims. bbc/news/world-middle-east-28082962
