I think this song has slipped into my number one favorite song Ive written slot. A song of metaphor. She was a blonde haired, green-eyed... rough ride. :) The people fade over time, but the songs universal messages always remain. The song lyrics sometimes are misinterpreted. The lyric line, Laying down in the tall grass. Watching those clouds roll by. Leaving me behind, is a statement of personal joy for me, although some people misinterpret it as sad or loss. It takes me back to a time when life was simple as a young child, maybe three or four years old. Just running out the back door of our house into the field up by the red barn in the picture below. Then laying down in the soft grass, sticking a piece of grass in my mouth, with my hands folded behind my head. Then just feeling all the warmth of the sun as I stared up at the blue sky, not a care in the world, and watching those clouds roll by leaving me behind.
