I think today, for the first time in 15+ yrs of law enforcement for Atah Akakpo-Martin, I have a lump in the pit of my stomach. As a sit and look at HG and Alt wanting to shield them from the undeniable evils lurking in our presence but also wanting them to know how lucky they are to have a dad as great as theirs, who tirelessly goes to work on a regular basis. Ensuring that the LEOs in his charge make it home safely to their loved ones. How each of them sacrifice time from family and friends to protect us from such evils and that some pay the ultimate sacrifice. I am saddened that another human can so callously disregard the life of another all because of their profession and the acts of others. No family wants that call or knock on their door and my heart aches for the families suffering. I cant imagine...I dont want to imagine! Its selfish, I know. To my love and all LEOs everywhere be safe, be strong, stay aware and may God watch over you all!
