I think we have sucess! Caruso in his new Renegade Viper hoof boots! Weve done a couple of test rides on trail and in the arena and so far so good. I had posted on the Renegade site a comment about when do you give up and move on. A Renegade CS asked me to send pics of his feet and measurements. During the course of our emails regarding sizing, we were able to determine that the boots I had previously were possibly too small. My hoof care professional came out with her fitting shells and we tried on the size I had before (125Lx115W) and a size larger (125Lx120W). His measurements are: 115Lx113W. I and my HCP were under the impression that they had to fit snug. After taking pics of both shells on and sending them to Renegade she advised the larger size as his foot will seat deeper into the boot and provide more contact over the hoof wall. Another concern I had with the previous boots that I could not seem to get the captivator to seat over his heel bulbs correctly and could not seem to get them tight enough to not twist off. The Viper captivator has deeper pockets for the heels. The original Renegade captivator is a bit shallower, Caruso does not have prominent heels so the Viper captivator did not provide even contact over the heels. They send me a pair of the larger Vipers with the original Renegade captivator. After a little adjustment of the cables, he moved right out. I did not have the shwoosh sound of air being forced out of a boot that is not fully seated on the hoof. As everything about Caruso nothing is off the shelf and you have to think outside the box.
