I think were at the point that we can talk about not dinosaurs but reptiles and mammals. Its one thing to talk about us going the way of the dinosaurs if we dont adapt and change our energy habits. But some dinosaurs have survived. Theyre called reptiles. China, it seems, is not reptilian. Though vast it is proving to be flexible, adaptable and fast-moving. The US, though weighed down and hindered by reptilians who refuse to adapt, and who bring every conceivable argument against adapting, is moving increasingly fast towards a renewable energy future. Theyve always been mammalian in their capacity to adapt and innovate. Australia...We have always congratulated ourselves upon being adaptable and resourceful, but I dont know anymore whether i think we are. Certainly a couple of Americans I know criticise us for over-regulating. Im more concerned that we are not nearly as egalitarian as we think ourselves. We seem to be ruled by reptilians who are most interested in protecting the privilege of a few huge dinosaurs. We need far more mammals scurrying around in the undergrowth, subverting that reptilian rule!.
