I thoroughly enjoyed a recent interview by the Hon. Perry Christie on CCTV news. He gave a comprehensive and intellectually refreshing overview of current and ambitious future development plans for the Bahamas. Such a contrast from our local leadership, ours a micro view versus a macro approach by the Bahamas. In consequence of which, they have secured billions of dollars of inward investments and continuing. Bermuda should have been a participant in the current Caribbean and Latin American conference under the aegis of Caricom together with China. Even those African nations are proving more progressive than Bermuda at this time, hosting a five (5) nation tour, where the Chinese are seeking development opportunities and partners. There are also potential development partners in India and the Middle East, which are ripe for future development opportunities. But then, we seem to be preoccupied with political minutae and a stagnant economy crumbling around our ears. It was magnificient achievement for the Bahamas to have snared airline service from China, notwithstanding such flights to the Bahamas will pass through our airspace. For Christ Sake, Bermuda wake up. Yes you have a one off AC17, but one swallow does not a summer make. You all keep blowing smoke at Sir John with his occasional and limited spill, why not conscript him together with a few other personalities and fashion them into a Bermuda delegation, to explore some of those overseas opportunities for Bermuda, forsaking for a moment their own agenda, rather it should be an exercise to lift Bermuda out of its current economic doldrums. How about it fellas! A respite on mudslinging, and a mixed coalition committed to exploring overseas opportunities for Bermuda. What do you say?
