I thought Bernies anti-Keystone speech on the floor of the Senate this evening was quite good except that it appealed only to rational people who respect science and humanity. Most of his colleagues on the Hill clearly do not respect either. I say this not to disparage them - which accomplishes nothing since they are generally immune - but to redirect the rhetoric. The smug no-nothings in Congress are wary of facts and figures that do not support their preconcieved magical notions of how the world works. Rather than quote the IPCCs fifth urgent warning of imminent disaster, consider the new evangelicals view that we are failing as stewards of Gods creation. Or press economic insights from beneficial corporations that clearly find a profit in doing things sustainably. Truth only has value if it is heard AND understood.
