I thought I may share a review BREASTWORKS recently received: 5.0 out of 5 stars A Tour de Force, October 19, 2013 By James A. Anderson Author (London, Ontario Canada) BREASTWORKS (Kindle Edition) Kevin Hayden hits another home run with his second novel, BREASTWORKS. I was blown away by his first novel, DARKSAIL, a naval-pirate adventure. This one is quite different. Not quite as powerful or a page turner as the first one, but still a good, interesting read. Alexis Willow and her husband, tired of life in the big city, move to an old mansion on Cheat Mountain, overlooking the village of Monterey, Virginia in the lush Shenandoah Valley. For Lexi it was a dream come true: a fresh start in life, a horse farm to raise champion Thoroughbreds and a spacious home to start her family. But from the moment she and Chet arrived fragments of the Blaylock past began to envelop their lives--greed, infidelity, jealousy and murder. Set against a backdrop of the historic Civil War Battle of McDowell, the Confederate Breastworks and the rich mountain empire culture, Lexi has to wrestle demons from her past and choose whether to fight for the life she has always imagined or surrender to unrelenting outside influences once again. It is an intense, gripping read and Hayden writes with great detail about his native Virginia and the legacy of General Robert E. Lee. Suspense, intrigue and romance abound. I highly enjoyed this book and the author demonstrates great talent and versatility in his writing. I expect much more from the pen of this author. The book is also expertly edited by Rebecca Stroud. A joy to read such a cleanly edited self published book which surpasses the quality of many traditonally published titles. One of the best books Ive read this year. The ending is a real tour de force.
