I thought I saw the best of Tom Hanks after I saw him in Forrest Gump, Philadelphia, Apollo 13 and many such movies, until I met Viktor Navorski in The Terminal. While it is true that those movies did bring out the best of Tom Hanks, what he did in this movie is something unimaginably remarkable. He lived as Viktor Navorski and we see only Navorski, not Tom Hanks. Such is the brilliance of the actor in playing this role which in my opinion is the best ever role of his and one of the best characters in any movies that I had seen. When I saw this movie first, I was living in East Europe, so I could see the minute detailing that he had brought into the characterisation, flawlessly. There are many many one liners to pick from the movie, like when Amelia asks Viktor, Are you coming or going?, he says I dont know. Both. Or when the cabbie asks Where do you wanna go?, he says I am going home. Many many such gems. I dont see enough of the clips in youtube from the movie, but nevertheless from what I could get, this one scene is a gem by itself.
