I thought I won an online auction for a Puget Sound N scale - TopicsExpress

I thought I won an online auction for a Puget Sound N scale Milwaukee horizontal-ribbed boxcar. I have wanted one as an example of designs associated only with one railroad but in such numbers that they7 appeared nationwide: the B&O round-roof “wagontop” boxcars, Pennsylvania RR X-29 boxcars, and the Milwaukee horizontal-ribs. I saw a car of the Milwaukee design near Conroe, Texas in 1979. I tried buying an N model some years ago but all I could get was a 50’ double-door automobile boxcar, not the more common 40’ single-door variety. I won the auction easily for a reasonable price, but was surprised to discover I bought not one kit, but TWO partly assembled kits with a Milwaukee decal thrown in. The boxcar bodies rattled. I guessed there were more parts inside, maybe couplers to be body-mounted. But the bodies turned out to be well cemented to the underbody. The rattle must be loose BBs for weight! Whoever started the car put on metal grabs, tackboards, roofwalk, trucks, but left off some fine etched metal side ladder for me to superglue on. Should be fun to complete. When I can find my Santa Fe stockcars and finish them. I put them aside to prepare portable layout for July 13 meeting. I’m just having too much fun, and this doggone group goes and encourages it!
