I thought I would share a video of my daughter Aaliyah, who has Phelan-McDermid Syndrome. It is a rare chromosome disorder. There are under 1,000 known cases in the world. She was in the 800 known cases when we received her diagnosis June 2014. Aaliyah was diagnosis with severe autism, non-verbal, sensory processing disorder, potential loss of hearing or auditory processing disorder, metatarsus adductus, hypotonia, microcephaly, frontal lobe seizures, absent seizures and Febrile seizures July 2013. These diagnosis lead to her MRI and blood work that was done June 2014. With all of her listed and other diagnosis, it is in her best interest to have ABA therapy, speech therapy, occupational therapy, and physical therapy. I am picky about therapist treatment plans and teachings. But for how most ABA therapist do their programs, I have a big problem with them and Aaliyah didnt have any other ABA therapy until now. All thank to the Air Force, for transferring my husband to an area where there is terrific autism/PMS resources, therapies, doctors and specialist. September 2014, I finally found a therapist who didnt do food reinforcers, banish parents from sitting in sessions and didnt REQUIRE so many hours a week, in order to have your child to receive their services. Aaliyah is a Pixar junkie! She loves the classics, you know, Toy Story, Toy story 2, Toy Story 3, Monsters Inc., Wall-E, Ratatouille; but one of her top favorites is Finding Nemo. Dory speaking whale is Aaliyahs ABA therapy reinforcer/award/praise for doing her target demands, eye contact, completing a task, etc. This is a small clip of her adorable laugh and precious smile of getting her Dory reward. Aaliyah Marie Barrett was born in Great Falls, Montana.August 3rd, 2011 at 4:15pm, she entered into this world. Aaliyah weighed 6.13lbs and 20 long. She was our second piece of Heaven who couldnt wait to meet us Aaliyah today: 39 months, 14 days, 8 hours and 32 minutes old. Weighs 30lbs and 37 long. She has overcome many obsctales because nothing gets in her way. She is one strong little girl
