I thought John ODonnell might find this interesting. I am neither - TopicsExpress

I thought John ODonnell might find this interesting. I am neither for nor agin this fellow (I would have to give Huck Finn another read to have a credible opinion about these things) but he has spent a great deal of time thinking about Huck Finn and he writes longer than I do (and doesnt always compare well in information density though he is pleasantly readable if you bear with him and he does indeed have rational sounding things to say.) I am surprised how much good stuff I am getting out of Salon this week. deridere vita quam deplorare. I also learned that Hemingway apparently thought about Twain the way Faulkner thought about Tolstoy. Only with less repetition. salon/2015/01/03/we_get_huck_finn_all_wrong_race_mark_twain_children_and_myths_of_an_american_classic/
