I thought, for interest, I would post some pieces not normally seen here. Those of you who know me, likely know that I collect inkwells. The collection currently sits around 100 pieces, of various styles, periods and materials. Canadian? Many of them. Others English and French, so in the tradition of Canada. Others? Well, any serious collector has to have some Loetz and similar Bohemian iridescent glass...and I do. Pictured here are my two most recent acquisitions: also, strangely, they are also the least expensive and the most expensive inkstands I have purchased. The dual horn inkstand, bought at auction, is a stunner, and my photos dont do it justice. Two horns crossed, with silver caps (engraved with flowers) and silver tips, on a formal stand. Its about 13 across. The other was a great find at Aberfoyle; 10 wide at the base, with two hand-carved folk art characters with just the right amount of quirky, mounted on what look to be bakelite wells, all mounted on a wood stand with pen trough. Economics? I got the carved one for four percent of the price of the horn one! Thats right, 4%! And I actually think I like it best!
