I thought it would be great to start the New Year with a blog post about the importance of shooting! I read an interview with Dirk Nowitzki’s mentor Holger Geschwindner on the future of shooting. The interview was on German sports site Spox, so I will translate here as good as I can! He had some great quotes in the interview. The one that stood out the most was: It used to be enough to be athletic. No almost everyone is athletic. Then you added team play and game understanding. A lot of teams have improved in that area as well. Now it is all about whether you can shoot or not. The shooting percentages today are not as high as they could be. Sometime in the future shooting 40% from 3 won’t be the norm anymore, but 50%! 50% from 3?!? Yes, that’s right! In the not too distant future you will see players who will shoot 50% from the 3 point line! That is just the natural evolution of the game.
