I thought this might encourage some of us: I dreamt last night - TopicsExpress

I thought this might encourage some of us: I dreamt last night that I ran across a man who was recently dead by reason of something foolish he had done (I don’t know what it was or how I knew. It was a dream, you see.) I immediately began CPR, even though a friend who was with me assured me there was no hope. I didn’t do it very well, though I had the basic idea. After 4 repetitions of pumping his chest and mouth to mouth, I didn’t think I would have any success, because there was no response whatsoever, but I continued for a bit. Then, suddenly, he revived! He was most grateful. The ambulance arrived, and he thanked me again. I could tell he wasn’t out of the woods as far as his behavior was concerned, but he would not be quite so foolish ever again, and his genuine intent was to reform. I was very glad I didn’t listen to my friend and proceeded with that life-saving procedure. I think this dream is about preaching the gospel/doing evangelism. To a Christian who has made the commitment to do it, there are a few struggles: 1.) Feeling inadequate: I didn’t remember my CPR training perfectly, and I didn’t do it perfectly, but I had the idea right. I went about it somewhat awkwardly, and there were moments where it felt so, I don’t know, routine?…not powerful…not supernatural. However, In the end, by some miracle, (understand: The Holy Spirit), it worked! 2.) Hopelessness: “I’ve tried this before, and it didn’t work.” Or, “This person is too far gone.” Or, “They don’t want God.” Or, “They don’t deserve it.” (Who DOES?) Or, “I keep working on/praying for this person, but I’m not seeing any response.” Well, Christian, keep at it a few more minutes. It is the Holy Spirit who does the miracle. Your call is to be faithful. Do not give up. Do not lose heart.
