I thought this was an excellent letter to the editor published yesterday in The Daily News: A huge success A friend of mine wants to be a budding entrepreneur. But he feels that he is stuck at a job he doesn’t like but has to stay there because, if he quit, he would lose his existing, job-funded health care. Recently my friend made the decision to plunge forward in starting a business in organic farming. What gave him the freedom and courage to leave his job and start his dream job? Obamacare. How’s that again? Obamacare? Yes, Obamacare. My friend qualified for a subsidized insurance plan that was affordable enough for he and his family to follow his dream. Strange how Republicans are banking on winning the U.S. Senate majority on the negative consequences of Obamacare. Karl Rove and the Koch brothers, as well as the Heritage Foundation (an extreme right-wing non-thinking tank) are spending millions of dollars to defeat Democratic candidates. I say, “Bring it on baby, bring it on.” Four million, two hundred thousand people now have health insurance. People with preexisting conditions are now covered. Obamacare, though not perfect, is a huge success for our country and will only get better. Joe Hobson Longview
