I told Nick Roney today how much I love the new cover for CounterPunch. Even after looking at it hour after hour over a few days, the image retains a real power. Simple but compelling and slightly mysterious. Great job, as usual Nick. I like having the paper magazine in my hands, I like to smell the ink, smudge it on my fingers, leaving faint traces all over my Mac-- but for you Millennials heres a cool way to read CP that almost has the feel of flipping through the actual magazine. Its on the ISSUU reader site. I think its a terrific issue, even though its missing two of our best writers, JoAnn Wypijewski and Kristin Nopacifictrails Kolb (for some reason I keep reading that No Hot Pants Kolb--my dyslexia, I guess), who were both dealing with extreme circumstances this month. Any way, the issue features a fantastic long essay on Paris by Diana Johnstone, Margaret Kimberley on the treacheries of the Black Establishment, Joshua Frank on the boom-and-bust fracking industry, Pepe Escobar on the new Russia-Turkey alliance, John Wight on American Sniper, Lee Ballinger on Rage Against the Machine, Mike Whitney on the high cost of cheap money, Chris Floyd on terrorism in the Age of the Absurd and my piece on Paris (I hope someone recognizes the title of the col), which you can read gratis on ISSUU...
