I too felt relieved to hear the news.... but #ThankYouDhoni The one person who had embraced both success and failure with same composure and managed to carry the transition of Team India.... decides to go into oblivion (in one format) with no drama. And yet managed equal praise and criticism even after that. It can only happen to a person like MS Dhoni. I have praised him 100 hundred times and also criticized him 100 times in past 10 years, like many even I have been a fan and anti-fan all through out his career. For a person like him, it is pretty obvious that he faced both praise and criticism equally from all sides of the world. Beyond all obvious reasons why India should be thankful to him, I would also like to thank him for carrying a team undergoing continuous transition and failure at the same time, managed the pressure, waited to see the new players grow beside him until a point that he can now actually hand it over to them. To be positive to him, I can only tell, I think Dhoni had no choice but to captain the Indian Team for 2 years. I still remember how he hinted of leaving one of the formats in cricket more than 2 years back. Lack of form of current players and evolution of new players who cant be risked to give bigger roles.... I personally feel BCCI completely relied on him to carry this team on his shoulders because it knows it is only him who can withstand this tough ask during this transition. There were great players, there were legends who captained their teams but there were always incidents like giving up captaincies in the middle of nowhere. I understand the relief of fans that he will be no more seen for test matches, but I strongly request every person to control their emotions and just hold up on their criticism. Cant we not just bid him a nice Good Bye? Im sure it is a very small ask which probably makes him very happy.
