I too grew up in this teaching and always wondered why should I pray to Mary to pray for me. It confused me so much as a child that I never learned the thing. When I got older and gave my life to Christ, I realized that the beginning alone of this prayer is wrong. Mary is NOT the mother of God! And she died! Her pureness of heart and Gods grace was the reason why she was chosen to carry the son of God. After Jesus, Mary had other children whom Joseph fathered. Meaning she was no longer a virgin.
